Calvin M. Holman served as an Arizona Legislator from 1975 to 1984. He was an active participant and leader in many community activities from 1961 when he arrived in Phoenix until his untimely death in an automobile accident in December 2007. Calvin Holman was particularly active in the politics of north Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley and was a loyal and active member of the Scottsdale Sunrise Rotary Club. In honor of his memory, the Calvin M. Holman Political Science Scholarship was established to recognize (1) an undergraduate political science major on the Tempe campus who embodies the community spirit, honesty, and hard-work ethic of Mr. Holman, (2) who has an interest in a legislative career or legislative policy area, (3) is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and (4) has a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
