Zachary J. Marco Capital Scholars Scholarship

The family of Zachary Marco established this endowed scholarship to support an excelling undergraduate student who is participating in the Capital Scholars Program. This award will be approximately $500.

The family of Zachary Marco established this endowed scholarship to support an undergraduate student participating in the Capital Scholars Program. The scholarship criteria include: 1) 3.5 cumulative GPA, 2) preference for students with financial need and 3) preference for students who are political science or philosophy majors.  Zachary excelled at ASU as a political science major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and an honors student in the Barrett Honors College. He was in the Junior Fellows program, a page in the Arizona Legislature and aspired to be a legislative intern, a Capital Scholar and an attorney. During his junior year, Zachary was tragically killed near campus in October 2010.  

Requirements

Only applicants that meet all of the following requirements will be considered for the scholarship:

  1. Applicant must be an undergraduate student.
  2. Applicant must be admitted into the Capital Scholars program.
  3. Applicant must have a cumulative gpa of 3.50 or higher.    For students who have established an ASU gpa but also have transfer credit, the student’s combined transfer and ASU cumulative gpa must be a 3.50 or higher at the time of application.   

Consideration

Preferential consideration will be given to applicants who meet the above requirements and demonstrate the following:

  1. Pursuing either a political science or philosophy major.
  2. Financial need

Only applicants who complete the following by the published deadline will be considered for the scholarship.  Please submit the following documents:

  1. Resume
  2. Statement in which you outline your interests in and qualifications for this scholarship.
  3. Unofficial transcript.

Optional Document

Students who want the selection committee to consider their financial need are advised to include a personal statement of need or a copy of current financial aid notification or a current FAFSA.
